Imagine the Future: Campaign for The Sheldon

Exciting Plans for an Enhanced Visitor Experience

The Sheldon is excited to announce plans for a transformative renovation of our our public spaces, aimed at creating an even better visitor experience and expanding our ability to serve the St. Louis community.

This project reflects our dedication to preserving The Sheldon as a treasured cultural hub for generations to come. While we’ve made remarkable progress toward our $11 million fundraising goal, we still need your support to bring this vision to life.

Scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025, the renovated Sheldon will invite visitors to spaces where they feel welcomed and inspired. While the acoustically perfect and intimate Sheldon Concert Hall will remain exactly as is, the visitor spaces and amenities throughout The Sheldon will be renovated to create the same feeling of warmth and intimacy.

The Sheldon Story

Nearly 40 years ago, The Sheldon was saved from the wrecking ball by a citizen-led, grassroots effort. Since that time, The Sheldon has modernized through strategic improvements while engaging new audiences and expanding our capacity to serve the community.

In 2020, The Sheldon received an inspiring bequest from Will and Ann Lee Konneker – a gift meant to reinvigorate the physical building and make a lasting and meaningful impact. The Konnekers understood that The Sheldon’s historic building, along with the people who work, perform, and visit, is our most important asset. Nearly half of this gift has been deployed, creating the beautiful new Konneker Room, our largest event space, in addition to functioning offices for staff and community meeting spaces.

Now, we are setting our sights on ensuring our future vitality. The time has come to ensure that all of our spaces provide the same elevated visitor experience. We hope you will join us in this transformational effort.
