Join us for this unique chamber music series curated and performed by SLSO musicians. Experience new and treasured repertoire masterfully brought to life on The Sheldon stage in a dynamic lineup of instruments and players.
Curated by Erin Schreiber, Associate Concertmaster and Shawn Weil, Violin.
SLSO strings explore a universe of sound, following harmony, melody, and counterpoint across time and space. Caroline Shaw’s quartet skitters to the highest range then eases to the strumming of a cello. George Walker’s lyrical world has the mood of a gentle elegy. Stefan Freund’s shape-shifting violin duet is followed by Pablo de Sarasate’s spectacular duet with piano accompaniment and the rhythms of a quick-footed Spanish dance. Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet expands the universe again, a masterpiece of invention.
Caroline Shaw: Entr’acte
George Walker: Molto Adagio from String Quartet No. 1
Stefan Freund: Delirium
Pablo de Sarasate:Navarra
Robert Schumann: Piano Quintet in E-flat major
