Celebrate Mardi Gras with The Neville Brothers and Dr. John
"Let The Good Times Roll" as the Friends of The Sheldon present Mardi Gras Mambo - The Neville Brothers with Dr. John and the Lower 911,
Sunday, February 8 at 7 p.m. for the Friends of The Sheldon benefit. The Neville Brothers and Dr. John bring their first ever combined tour
to The Sheldon stage to benefit Sheldon Educational Programs which serve over 20,000 St. Louis area students each year.
Known as the "First Family of Funk," Aaron, Cyril, Art and Charles Neville bring the soul and blues-infused sounds of their native New Orleans
to the The Sheldon stage! The Neville Brothers first hit the national scene in the 1960s, with Aaron's breakout hit "Tell It Like It Is." In
the meantime, Art and Cyril went their own way, performing with legendary funk group The Meters. It took the death of their mother in 1976 to
bring the brothers together to record the landmark album The Wild Tchoupitoulas, and since then the group has become one of the most
popular touring and recording groups of all time.
From songs like "Right Place, Wrong Time," and "Iko Iko" Dr. John is synonymous with the sounds of New Orleans. He brings his Creole-influenced
band, The Lower 911, to The Sheldon stage for the first time, performing his trademark blend of boogie-woogie, funk and R&B. Named for a
legendary voodoo practitioner from the 1800s, Dr. John is credited with bringing the authentic sounds of New Orleans to the mainstream. He has
influenced musicians as diverse as Harry Connick Jr., The Rolling Stones and Modest Mouse, and he has performed with some of today's most
prominent artists including James Taylor and Carly Simon, Van Morrison, and Bonnie Raitt.
Patron tickets are on sale now at $250 and $150 and include preferred seating, complimentary parking, post-concert reception and a tax deduction.
